As you know, I haven't had much time to blog lately. But I've been dying to do a post and say thank you to the lovely Becca.

She, unlike myself, has been keeping up with her blog, even though she may be the busiest person I know. I guess she can't help it that people are constantly demanding her creative skills :)

Lately she's been working hard on wedding invitations, place cards, and amazing party invites (on top of her regular job being a graphic designer for Quik, Roxy and DC).

But back to my personal gratitude. Despite their busy schedules, Becca and Tiranan surprised me and made the most beautiful invites for my going away party at Quik!

For the bon voyage event Becca and some great helpers decorated a boring conference room to look like a NYC Nightclub- full with alcohol, a bouncer, a killer photo booth (gotta love the word bubble signs) and a house DJ.

The party was so fun with a twist of bittersweet as I was sad to leave my Quik comrades. But it was the perfect way to exit such an awesome job and say goodbye to such a wonderful group of people, most of whom I will be friends with for a very long time.

So thank you Becca, and the rest of my peeps, for the best bon voyage and the best two years.

Soooo my homegurl REBECCA is turning 25 on March 25th...aka her GOLDEN birthday.
To celebrate she decided to host a GOLD party last weekend.
The invite list was exclusive and the invitations were divine. (There are still gold sparkles all over my room.) The only requirements were to wear GOLD and get saucy! Oh, and of course, dance your ass off. And that's exactly what we did!

For several years now I’ve had a sort of obsession with Charlotte Casiraghi.

She has a remarkable sense of style and Teen Vogue (which I swear is one of my favorite mags) often features pictures of her prancing around Europe looking marvelous. She and her friends are always seen at Paris Fashion Week decked out in enviable couture, looking fabulous and attending exclusive parties. I mean, come on, she lives the LIFE. She totally has that Euro-Princes-I-own-an-island-ness, and her social endeavors must be insane. But she also seems sort of sweet and, well, normal. Her style tends to have a casual, carefree tone to it... perhaps much like her attitude? And her dedication to her family (and country) are pretty admirable. So basically, I think she rocks and I think we could totally be best friends. I don’t speak French, but she might be impressed with my half ass Spanish skills. Or maybe she would appreciate the fact that I lived in the Basque country, or that my middle name is French (Jamar), or just my general ability to start great dance parties. We could totally listen to Yelle and share Stella McCartney tops and paint our nails matching colors…oh how tres amazing it would be! (Seriously, I know NO French.)

So here are some fun facts about Charlotte:

She lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco- ummm I die. I went to Monaco once for a DAY and although I was terribly carsick on a bus the entire time, I was still able to appreciate how GORGEOUS it is. One day I will be back…and not so ill…and hopefully on a yacht.
She was born with the title- Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace.
Her Grandmother was Grace Kelly!
Her mother is the Princess of Monaco- I believe that makes her the next princess. But I don’t totally understand these things. When we're friends she'll tell me.
She has two brothers Andrea and Pierre- Just like me! Except not the same names.

She’s 23- we’re pretty much the same age.
Vanity Fair has put her on the International Best Dressed List. Of course!
She’s a published writer and magazine editor- jealllllll!! That is insanely amazing.
Her grandparents bought her an island off Sardini- like, her own ISLAND.

So ya, she's fabulous and I think we should be best friends.
We'll totally invite you to our parties...maybe.

I recently made a pact with myself that I would NOT shop for at least THREE months. Besides one or two minor exceptions, (including a killer pair of $25 heals) I’ve done pretty well for the past few weeks. But then this morning my resistance was low and before I knew it my fingers had typed www.forever21.com without me even realizing what was happening. Next thing I know, I’m browsing through the LOVE 21 section adding things to my cart with wild excitement.
But I had to stop myself.
I couldn't let myself get carried away like this.
The selection is to die for... but I have to hang onto my promise…and my savings.
Therefore, I’ve posted some of my favs in hopes that some of you might find the urge to splurge, allowing me to live vicariously through you. Not a bad deal, eh?

I’m proud of myself for holding back, and it’s comforting to know that Forever 21 will always have great pieces just waiting to be purchased. I just hope that you don’t all see a post from me tomorrow titled “OOPS I WENT AND BOUGHT IT ALL!”

Some friends from work came up with a fabulous idea this week.
It's called TEAR&WEAR.

The idea is to TEAR an image out of a magazine and WEAR your own clothes to create a similar outfit. It's not about matching it perfectly and there is NO shopping allowed. It's just about style inspiration- using YOUR OWN closet to revamp your style.
Our first attempt turned out pretty great. We all tore out images for each other and it was fun to see how amazing everyone looked rocking their own gear. We plan to do it each week so stay tuned for lots more TEAR&WEAR.

Just Call Me JWOW

A few short months ago I took a trip with my family to the east coast. We rented a cozy beach house from my dad’s cousin that was just perfect for hosting afternoon barbecues and long Italian dinners with our extended family, most of whom live in the area and were excited for the west coast cousins to finally visit. Usually when we see this side of the family it’s during their trips to California. So we thought it was time for us to make our way to them. And let me tell you- it was a great idea. The trip was so relaxing and it was great to lay out on the beach and dip in the Atlantic ocean! Rachel and Gina took the greyhound in from Manhattan to come stay with us, which made it that much more fun. We had lots of sun and carbohydrates…what more could you ask for?

Oh and, silly me- I forget to mention WHERE this delightful beach house was. Our nice, calm family vacation was actually at the

JERSEY SHORE!

IT’S TRUE.

I’m admitting it. Finally.

I have been to the Jersey shore.

You may as well call me JWOW.

I’m not even going to try and defend myself. The show has become so popular that I can basically brag about having been there. The beach house we rented was in Ocean City, which to my understanding is nearly an hour from Seaside, (where the Jersey Shore peeps lived.) Our version of the shore was pretty different, starting with the fact that Ocean City is a DRY CITY. The craziest thing we did was bring some “mixed” drinks in water bottles to the miniature golf course. Needless to say Gina lost and my brothers got pretty rowdy. It was certainly no night at Karma with The Situation.

I put up some pics from the trip so you can take a look at my version of the Jersey Shore.

And even though our trip was nothing like the debauchery on the MTV show, it’s still pretty great to think that Snooki and I have something in common.

So I've found my new current music obsession...
FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE
I wasn't familiar with her music up until recently when Jen burned me her CD Lungs. And let me tell you, it's utterly amazing. Her sound is so original and the CD is definitely worthy of being played on repeat. Some of my favorite tracks are:

And she does a killer cover of 'You've Got the Love' by The Source.

And on the note of great music...
Today I stumbled upon the Coachella 10 Lineup.
Holy shiz- it's outstanding. Obviously Coachella does not disappoint. Last year was an absolute blast, my personal highlights being The Killers, MIA and Mastercraft. And if I'm able to make the trek this year I will be even more excited. We're talking Jay Z, Kaskade, Phoenix, Passion Pit, Sia, Tiesto, and Florence and the Machine too! I better find a way to make that happen...

David Sedaris is one of my favorite authors…ever.

Honest, witty and captivating, he has a writing style that I’ve always admired. When I’m reading his books, I spend half the time actually reading and the other half just laughing hysterically. And I think it’s rare to find an author who can keep you entertained the way he can.

Two years ago I went and saw Davis Sedaris when he was on his book tour for When You Are Engulfed in Flames. He read part of the book as well as several other short stories, both published and unpublished. Being there while he was reading aloud made his stories that much more impactful and hilarious. It was such a great experience and looking back, I’m so glad I had the opportunity to go.

One of the stories he read that evening was 'Journey Into Night' and I remember how much I enjoyed listening to this particular piece. I think I even teared up a little at the end!

If you’d like to read it for yourself, (which I highly recommend), the story is posted on The New Yorker website.

I always wish I had more time to read. And as I’ve mentioned before, my list of MUST READS is getting longer and longer. I’m halfway through about five books right now. Soon I will finish one and then hopefully the rest will follow. And when that time finally comes, I think my next mission will be to go back and re-read some David Sedaris favorites of mine. I think that before I create a new list I’d like to dwell a little on some of the books and stories that have meant the most to me. Plus, who doesn’t love a good laugh!

Would YOU Read It?

Kelly Cutrone is releasing a BOOK soon. Even though I think that beyond her bitchiness she's probably a very wise woman, I still wonder to myself, would I ever read it?? Let's admit, she probably has some solid advice. And it's clear she knows a thing or two about building a business. But do I really need to read a book from a woman who seems to be permanently PMSing? Is constant bitchiness a necessity for being successful? I have a feeling that if I read her book I'd find the answer to be yes, at least according to her. And I don't know if I completely agree with that.

All you have to do is watch THE CITY to see that she's one tough woman. And I think that instead of adding another book to my 'MUST READ! IT'S BEEN SITTING ON THE SHELF FOR A REDICULOUSLY LONG TIME! SOME KIDS DON'T EVEN HAVE BOOKS!' list, I would much prefer to watch her work her magic on The City when I can simultaneously judge Whitney's wardrobe. Plus, she has a new show -Welcome to Kell- that's coming to Bravo soon that I think will prove to be far more entaining than the pages of her book. So I guess I'm saying that I won't buy it. BUT because I do secretly think (wish) that if I had the opportunity to work for Kelly she would love me and favor me as she does Whitney, I'll never say never. Maybe one of my book-reading-friends will purchase it and let me borrow! So now the question goes to all of you... Would YOU read her book???

Tis the season to be thinking about the things that truly make us happy.

Lately I've been a bit under the weather, (hence my lack of blogging.) And to get me through my temporary illness I found myself remembering some of the wonderful, little things that make me happy these days. I'm grateful for family and good friends and the holidays that bring us all together. And below I made a list of ten things that I appreciate this season. It's kind of like my own personal raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...okay I'll stop. This is just getting obnoxious. But you get the point! Tis the season to be merry...

Ten of my favorite things this season...

1. Il Valore Wine from Trader Joe's.

This red wine is absolutely delicious and absolutely $2.99

Talk about a deal. My mom claims they're selling out of it because it's so great- so grab some before they're out of stock!

2. The Newport Harbor Boat Parade

The holiday Boat Parade is one of my favorite ways to celebrate the season. Watch it from a bayside house, a nearby bridge or a friend's boat (as I did this year!) It's so fun to sip some cocktails and watch the decorated boats ride by. And even if your camera doesn't take great pics of the lights (oops), it's still a wonderful way to soak up the holiday spirit! Just don't forget your jacket!

3. My New Forever 21 Purchases!

Yesterday I decided to let myself do some to-me-from-me online shopping and ordered four items from Forever21. They gave me free 5-10 day ground shipping, which I considered a great offer. Well, to my surprise, the doorbell rang TODAY and sitting there was a giant bag from FOREVER 21! It's a Christmas miracle! I can't wait to start wearing my new purchases! I ordered a jacket, a black dress (see below and picture it with a leather jacket), and two tops. Woo Hoo!!

4. Julie and Julia

Sweet, funny and inspirational- this flick is a great rental for a cozy night in. And such a goodie for aspiring bloggers!

5. In The Spirit of the Hamptons

A recent birthday gift from Megan, my fellow Hamptons obsessor, this book is so fun to flip through. Filled with vintage pictures of the Hamptons (and written by Kelly Killoren Bensimon!) it's such a fun glance into the good life.

6. My New Favorite Show- We Can be Heros

This Australian comedy, from the same guy who created Summer Heights High, is literally the funniest show ever. I die. I own it on DVD and I cannot stop watching and laughing.

7. T.V. Guilty Pleasures

We all have those shows that we swear we don't watch, but we actually never miss an episode. Jersey Shore? Real Housewives? Keeping Up With The Kardashians? You know you love them.

Perfect for workout or to wear out! And sooo comfy.

iPhone, Do You Phone?

So I officially made the switch from Blackberry to iPhone. It happened. The apps were just calling to me! I couldn't resist. It's actually something I'd been considering for a while; I was available for an upgrade, already on AT&T and ready to try something new. And I'm glad I went for it because so far I love it!
This morning Joe showed me an awesome website where you can download different wallpapers for your iPhone. All of the artwork is super unique and it's fun to browse all the different designs.
Whether or not you have an iPhone, you should def take a LOOK.

I hate to be a follower and sometimes I feel like I would be cooler if I was still rocking my old Razor phone, (I have a certain respect for people who don't upgrade.) But damn, you really just can't beat the iPhone!

And I think Jen said this for three reasons:
1.) I heart jorts with tights. I think it's the best combo for incorporating a little summer into your winter. And there are always so many shoe options.
2.) Jen and I both LOVE street style photos.
3.) Jen knows that, against my better judgment, I REALLY enjoy Olivia P's style. I'm totally aware that Olivia thinks she's allllll that. And I know she's a total biotch on The City. But Olivia does manage to pull off some amazing outfits. And her hair is never not perfect. How does that happen? I mean, I'm sure she probably gets a blow out every day, but still. And whether or not she meets with her stylist every morning, starbucks and bad attitude in tow, she's always rocking a great outfit. And for that, I dig her style.

Fun With Faux Fur

Okay so let's face it, we can't all afford a fur jacket. Nor is there ever the right occasion to actually wear one, (talk about a spilled cocktail disaster.) So I'm starting to feel the need for FAUX. Whether or not you're a loyal member of PETA, faux fur makes a lot more sense right now. After doing some intense online research, I discovered LOTS of shopping sites with LOTS of faux fur. The pieces are affordable, available and way more accessible than the real thing. I'm all for keeping it real and I'm not big on nock-offs. But when it comes to fur, faux is definitely where it's at.

GG Recap

The theme of last night's GG was SKANKS. That's all that really needs to be said.
Everyone decided that it was time to get saucy and go wild. And the episode did not hold back.
I mean, I guess it wasn't that different from the cast's regular behavior but something about Serena's red fish nets, Trip's seducing glare, the threesome flashbacks and Jenny's drug dealer crush just really made the episode extra slutty. This cannot be good for the teens. But I will say one thing that's good- Trip's presence on the show. And if it means more skanky behavior, bring it on!

Take me to the dance floor...

Moira and I dressed as Studio 54 regulars for Halloween. We love the theme of disco and the seventies and wild nights spent boogying on the dance floor.

I wore one of my favorite gems- a vintage black and gold sequin top from American Rag, (the gold sequins on the front are shaped as a butterfly!) And Moira rocked a one-shoulder black dress covered in GIANT sparkly sequins. (The dress became VERY scratchy but that's the price you pay for disco glam.) There were also boots and headbands and a ton of gold jewelry involved as well. And we did our best to channel Bianca Jagger and Liza Minnelli.

It was such a fun night!

A few short years ago, my friends and I attended one of our many sorority date dashes. The theme of this particular one- STUDIO 54. These parties always involved a last minute date, two hundred people piled into three buses and plenty of flasks. Oh and, DUH, amazing costumes! Thank goodness for Buffalo Exchange!

Our Studio 54 date dash was one of my all time favorites. We all found our inner disco and some cheap jewelry and had such a blast! Just looking at the pics makes me want to live that night all over again!

I've come to really love the blog Le Love. The same girl who started it also started Olsens Anonymous. And it's full of great little personal stories and fun images, (like this Andre 3000 quote hehe.) Some of the posts are kinda cheesy but some are also very sweet. And intense. Like the one I'm posting HERE.

I thought this story was pretty crazy and it's probably more common than I realize. If you have a second, give it a read. It definitely puts things in perspective a bit.

I still don't know what I'm going to wear for Halloween. I'm always a last minute decider so this is nothing unusual, but I'm realizing that I better make up my mind soon before I end up as a 'sportsfan' or a 'hippie' or some other last minute, boring outfit that I've worn in years past.

Tay passed along a great blog called WHAT I WORE that has some fabulous costume ideas. This girl pulls off SUCH a great Edie Beale from Grey Gardens! Brilliant. And I really liked the George Washington one but I don't think I can produce that costume in under a week...

Some other ideas I have floating around:

Zorro- Becca is kindly lending me her costume. And who doesn't want to carry around a sword all night?

Mimi From Rent- Just saw the play last week (for the fifth time) and she's one of my absolute favorites. Plus, it involves a leopard coat.

Moira and I are also considering being tacky tourists, cabaret dancers or Superwoman and Cat Woman. Those could be cute, no?

Anddd if all else fails, maybe I can just pull out my old bug costume from 89!

Okay so why was Monday's Gossip Girl more confusing than an episode of LOST??
We had to pause at least three times in order to try and figure out WHAT was going on. And if WE were perplexed then how are all the thirteen year old fans supposed to understand what's happening??

Highlights from the recap:

• Blair: "I am in no mood to hear you fawn over some girl with tacky accessories who likes to recycle." Plus 5, since this is immediately followed by Vanessa's appearing at the parent's dinner in her most ginormous and hideous turquoise necklace yet.

• Why does Gossip Girl still call Dan Lonely Boy? Minus 1, because he is clearly not. Look at him in that last scene, surrounded by friends and family, like it's the Olive Garden or some shit.

New Moon, New Soundtrack

Yesterday Lacey got me a totally awesome present- she burned me the NEW MOON SOUNDTRACK! Very exciting!
I have read two of the four Twilight books and although I'm not the most loyal fan, I did really enjoy them and swear one day I'll find time to read the other two, (just after I finish the five books I'm unsuccessfully and simultaneously reading right now.) I don't think Stephenie Meyer is the best writer but she's a damn good story teller. And as I reallized today, I own the Twilight movie on DVD, the original soundtrack and now the new soundtrack. Plus, I have a mini poster hanging behind my desk. So ya... I'm a fan. And as it gets closer to November 20th and the release of New Moon I get more and more excited. Maybe I should finish the other two books...

So here are my thoughts on the soundtrack so far...

It's very mellow and a bit dark which matches the theme of the novel. Well done.
I'm a little disappointed in the Muse and Death Cab for Cutie tracks- they're kind of a drag. And not in an emotastic way. Just in a not-good-on-the-ears kind of way.
I'm devastated to say that there is no Rob Pattinson song! Um hello?!! How could he not be on the new sountrack?? Never Think is so amazing- I was expecting a follow up! And no Paramore...so sad.
There is a gorgous Lykke Li song called Possibility. I might be biased cause I love her music, but this song is possibly my fav one on the soundtrack.
Some other winners- there's great tracks by the Killers, Lupe Fiasco (rememebr him?) and Anya Marina.
There is a song by the Editors called No Sound But the Wind- it sounds like a mix of Neil Diamond and The National. I sort of hated it at first by now I really dig it. I don't even know why. It's pretty great though.

So there ya have it- my rundown of the soundtrack.
I'll pretty much be listening to it non-stop until the movie comes out, and then just listening to it even more. Anything that channels Edward Cullen is great with me!

Back to the Office

So last year I accidently stopped watching The Office, one of my most favorite shows. Blame it on busy Thursday nights or the fact that I no longer had my AZ roomies to watch it with, but either way I somehow stopped tuning in. THEN two weeks ago I heard that they were having PAM AND JIM'S WEDDING episode and I reallized that I HAD to tune in again. How could I miss THAT episode?? It's Pam and Jim! They are hands down the best TV couple ever (yes, better than Chuck and Blaire.) So I played a little catch up on season five and the begining of season six and just yesterday finally saw the wedding episode. Let me just say, SOOOO GOOD! I laughed, I cried (for real) and I totally became re-hooked on The Office again.

I loved loved loved the "Forever" dance scene- see the video link below- and could not stop laughing.

And there were some killer Jim lines that totally had me in tears, including:

"I bought the boat tickets the day I saw that YouTube video. I knew we'd need a backup plan. The boat was actually plan C. The church was plan B. And plan A was marrying her a long, long time ago. Pretty much the day I met her."

Ugh such a goodie! Can't wait to get back into the office! The show, not the real one : )

Highlights of The September Issue

A few days ago I finally had the chance to see The September Issue, (movies are so expensive these days that I can rarely justify going. The last movie I saw that wasn’t on HBO was The Ugly Truth, and it scared me away from the theaters for a while.) Megan and I showed up at the movie with high expectations and nine pounds of frozen yogurt. And LUCKILY the film was everything we hoped it would be and more. It was such an awesome inside look at what it takes to create an issue of VOGUE. Because I don’t work in the magazine industry, I was really surprised to see the entire process with all its highs, lows and tedious details. But because I do work in the clothing industry, I also wasn’t surprised to see all the highs, lows and insane details. It’s all part of the magic.

Megan and I, like everyone else, were eager to see Anna and what she’s really like. Personally, I thought she was cold and controlling but not in a shocking or offensive way. She’s a hard worker and she’s a boss. It seemed pretty standard to me. To our surprise, the movie totally centered less on Anna herself and more on the work relationship between Anna and Grace Coddington, the Creative Director. There was a total spotlight on Grace, deservedly, and it was fascinating to see what goes into her daily job and what struggles she faces as the artist who must battle the business woman. For example, it was so intense watching Anna cut some of Grace’s favorite images from the magazine and we almost shed a tear when Grace talked about how hard it is to continue working when things like that happen. Some other parts of the movie that stood out and shocked us more than Anna’s general attitude:

1. Anna Wintour’s daughter, Bee Shaffer, was soooo different than I would have imagined her to be. She’s sweet and funny and refreshingly up-beat. She wants to go to Law school and comes off nothing like her mother. She basically said she has no desire to be in the fashion world or work for Vogue, and thinks it’s pretty ridiculous that these people (aka her mother) devout their lives to fashion. AHH! So raw and juicy! But they have a sweet relationship and I loved the part where Anna said her weakness is her children.

2. Anna’s assistants, as well as some of the people you see running around the Vogue offices, actually AREN’T very fashionable. Honestly, Anne Hathaway’s character wouldn’t have had to change her wardrobe that much at all.

3. The conversations over Sienna’s hair were so intense that I laughed out loud. These people acted like her straggly hair was a life or death situation and the only possible life raft was a wig, which ended up being worse than her real hair. But as it turned out, her hair DID kind of look awful at the actual photo shoot. Who knew hair mattered that much when you’re as pretty as Sienna? Also, she apparently has some bad fillings, hehe. We have fillings too, Sienna (although mine aren’t silver.)

4. Even though I’ve helped out at several Roxy and Quiksilver Women photo shoots and seen many models enjoy what I consider to be good size meals, (seriously I’ve never once seen a model skip a meal and most of them really enjoy carbohydrates), I was pretty shocked to see the model at the Versailles photo shoot indulge in a tart/cake treat while still in her dress. Homegirl did not want to miss out on that treat or even wait to take off her extremely expensive gown. And I liked every second of it.

5. One of the best parts of the film was when Grace chose to incorporate the camera crew in one of her photo shoots. Not only did the pictures turn out awesome, but it was really sweet to hear Grace soothe the innocent camera man after Anna jokingly (but not really) told him he should hit the gym when she was viewing the images. Grace was so cute about it and insisted that no one Photoshop his stomach, to which the camera man let out a quiet ‘thank you’ from behind the lens. So touching. So silly. Oh Grace, you won our hearts!

I would highly recommend this movie and will probably see it again once it’s available on Netflix. Bravo to the creators of this film! And to check out the film’s website, click here.

Is it just me, or is the upcoming Kate Moss collection for Topshop looking really fantastic? Refinery 29 gives a little sneak peak of the line and I already want to order everything I see.
I debated over purchasing some items from her last Topshop collection, but never followed through. Luckily I get a second chance because THESE pieces might be worth the splurge.

Jackets or Bust

As we get away from summer and float into fall, (I know, I know…we have to start admitting it though), our minds begin to drift away from tank tops and fedoras and take a turn towards layers and socks. We involuntarily find ourselves thinking about colored leggings, cozy sweaters and over the knee boots. Just this weekend, even when I was basking in the 80 degree weather and sporting a sundress, I found myself cruising Forever 21 in search of WARM clothes. It’s unavoidable and unstoppable. It’s AUTUMN. And as much as I treasure summer and am saddened by my fading tan, I have to force myself to find the good in all things FALL. Things like Halloween parties, football games, the return of our favorite tv shows and new fall styles, in particular- JACKETS. That’s right, it’s time for our jackets to emerge once again from the back of our closet. You know you’ve missed their warm embrace.

Some people are better at thinking ahead have already done a fair share of online shopping and mall trudging. And I’m sure there are plenty of people who said goodbye to their bathing suit weeks ago. But for me, the time is just approaching now. And luckily with October creeping up (tomorrow) there is a light of hope in the form of a jacket(s).

Maybe it’s your favorite season and if so, good for you.

Maybe you don’t really care that it’s almost time to bundle up.

Or maybe your inner child has a hard time watching the beaches go empty and the sun set earlier. And maybe the spread of new jackets is just what you need to remind yourself that fall isn’t so bad after all.

Last night was the season three premier of Gossip Girl! Finally, the show has come back into or lives again!

If you're one of the many of us who can't get enough of Gossip Girl, and who watched re-runs all summer in anticipation, then you will absolutely love the episode recaps on NYMAG.com

Chris and Jessica, two writers for the Daily Intel Blog on New York Mag's website, bring just the right mixture of silly and sarcastic. The two of them tally up what's real and what's fake about each episode, adding points for realistic moments and taking away points for things that wouldn't actually happen in real life. Literally, there's numbers involved. And these recaps seriously rival the show in entertainment.

VMA Recap

Sooo I didn't watch the whole entire VMAs but i saw most of the show. And even though it's not the greatest piece of television out there, it's still pretty entertaining. How can you miss the VMA's? So here's what I got out of the show:

Today I was flipping through photos from my recent trip to Las Vegas, better known as the 'reunion trip' that I took with my five best friends from college. And as usual, I found myself missing all of them terribly. This routine is nothing out of the ordinary; we're all pretty used to the feeling of nostalgia by now. We've all had those moments where we find ourselves flipping through hundreds of tagged photos and suddenly thinking 'whyyyy on earth did I do this to myself?' As we wipe tears and force ourselves to shut off Facebook.

But it's crazy to think that even with all this time and distance between us, it's so easy to fall back into our mode of being best friends. Seeing each other in Vegas made us forget that we now live in six different cities. And even though it was only temporary amnesia, it was enough.

Our trip was wild and crazy and too much fun for words. But the best thing about it, beyond the VIP and the dancg and theglitz, was the way we fell so easily back into place.

I guess that's real friendship for you.

So here I am- last minute trip planned, ridiculously cheap flights found, schedule re-arranged, credit card in hand and white outfit ready to go for the most ahmahzing Labor Day party...
But wait-OH NO- I was looking at the WRONG DATES for flights. AHHHH
Accidently clicking Sept 19th is the worst thing I've done in a long time! What a tease. Flights for Labor Day are TRIPLE what I thought they were!
So now, no Sea town.
No Tay time, no snuggling with Sarge the cat, no lunch by the lake, no Vodka waters with lemon at the Red Door...no Seattle.
Just me flipping through photos of the last time I was there, wishing more than ever that prices would suddenly drop.
My Labor Day weekend better be damn good to make up for this!

I'm still not really sure what to do with this whole over-the-knee boot. It feels a bit awkward to me and I can't seem to get Vivian Ward out of my head...

Like so many people, I am extremely sad to hear about the death of DJ AM.

I first saw DJ AM at Rain in Vegas on a reunion trip with my college friends. Literally five minutes into the set we were all obsessed. I’ll never forget all of us dancing on top of the booth yelling to each other “HE'S THE BEST DJ EVERRRR!” It was just one of those irreplacable nights.
I saw him again less than two weeks ago at Sutra with a bunch of friends, most of whom were AM newbies. And again, everyone had the greatest time. We all pushed our way to the very front and danced for two hours straight. AM even blew us kisses when we waved goodbye. So so so amazing.

DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) touched a lot of people’s lives, and not just when he was spinning.
My friends and I may not have known him, but we sure loved him as our favorite DJ.

Okay I just stumbled across this video on NYMag.com and it's insanely amazing! (And very well color coordinated.) Get me one of those giant rafts asap!

I'm obsessed with this Miley song right now and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
I am, however, a little embarrassed to admit that it's not the first Miley song I've played on repeat.
What? Don't judge. She's good.

See You Again was a pre-party favorite senior year- all my college friends will attest.
The Climb is pretty inspirational (admit it), and Before the Storm with Nick Jonas...I die.

Did I see Hannah Montana in theaters? YES
Did I tear up at the end? MAYBE
Do I wish I knew all the steps to Hoedown Throwdown? NO. That's just straight up ridiculous.

One of my favorite blogs is Olsens Anonymous.

The site is full of raw olsen style; from the hair to the jewels (adore) to the awesomely original outfits they somehow pull off. I just love to get a glimpse of what they're flaunting, even if it sometimes makes me chuckle.

I truly think their style is inspiring and only wish I could afford Elizabeth and James.
